Industrial facility “LSD“ 2019

Visual camouflage of the purpose of a building

This warehouse facility is located in Zemun Polje, developed for the investor Light and Sound Design.

The purpose of the building is storage, but in the design process we have made sure the materials and organization of the space are kept flexible, and that it flexibly provides for future adaptation to various purposes. This makes it possible to divide it into several independent units by floor.

In its shaping and materials we opted for an industrial appearance, using materials that meet demanding requirements for thermal and acoustic properties. In this spirit, the finish uses shades of grey contrasted with the natural green walls. This visual relationship was chosen to present a basis for different users and their needs for interior movable furnishings.

The request of the Investor was the focus of production and communication with storage.

Strong visual impression

The LSD commercial and warehouse facility is distinct in many ways. The hydro-insulation of the basement, located below the groundwater level, uses material not customary for our region, but providing excellent results. The prefabricated reinforced concrete structure is truly something special - beams up to 19m in length made of a single segment and pre-stressed concrete lattices covering 30m spans provide this building with a particular flavour.

Their assembly was exhausting work given the lack of space at the construction site, the size of the elements and the machinery required for assembly. The commercial segment consisting of four floors and a basement is characterized by large glass façade surfaces that, in addition to making a strong visual impression, provide the interior with immense amounts of natural light.
